"We needed a space that was usable and functional. When we approached Sam Harris from Culture Horticulture—after two failed attempts at a grass lawn—we were working with a mud pit. We didn't have a lot of space, so finding ways to create distinct zones within that space was challenging, but Sam nailed it. We wanted to include a distinct spot for alfresco dining on the deck, a space for the kids to play, and we made sure that everything we planted was dog- and kid-safe. There are fruit-bearing guava trees and an existing espalier pomegranate tree, and the beauty of the yard can be enjoyed from inside as much as outside.”- Client
